When Keeping Up With The Joneses Might Be a Good Idea!

In the last three weeks, we've had a couple friends reach out to us to see if they should make some improvements on their home in preparation to sell it in the future. That is what spurred the topic for this short blog. One was asking about flooring and windows, and the other about finishing off a basement.

One very important thing to keep an eye on is what other home owners around your home are doing! For example, does everyone have a new roof on the block from the last hail storm? Is your roof approaching 30 and looking like it? If so, you might want to consider getting a new roof. For our one friend, we researched if the basements of the other actively listed homes were finished or not. Turns out, it was about half and half. So, then looked at what other improvements had been done. Were the homes more updated than our friends? And if so, what did they need to do to make their home more appealing? Well, it was determined that their HVAC, (heat, ventilation, air conditioning), system probably needed to be replaced and their master bedroom needed updating.

If you are considering selling your home this year, but really aren't sure what improvements should be made, reach out to us! It may be less than what you think. Possibly, it is just a deep cleaning, a fresh coat of paint to the interior walls and some de-cluttering.
